Responsible Gambling
The casinos we cover are entertainment products. The math is, and always will be, against the player on every individual session — typical slot house edge runs 2-8%; even strong-strategy blackjack carries 0.5%. That is not a moral judgment; it is the structure of the games. Acknowledging it is the first step in keeping gambling enjoyable rather than corrosive.
If you need help right now
Three free, confidential, evidence-based resources we recommend:
- BeGambleAware — UK-based but globally accessible. 24/7 helpline, online chat, and self-help tools. The single most-used resource in the English-speaking gambling industry for player support.
- GamCare — UK charity offering counseling, residential treatment referrals, and family support. The HelpLine is 0808 8020 133, free from UK landlines and most mobiles.
- Gamblers Anonymous — peer support meetings worldwide, free to attend, no registration. The 12-step model is decades old and has helped people across every gambling demographic.
- National Council on Problem Gambling (US) — US-based 24/7 helpline at 1-800-GAMBLER, plus localized state resources.
- Hjelpelinjen (Norway) — Norwegian-language gambling support hotline.
Warning signs to watch for
Adapted from clinical screening tools used by Mayo Clinic and NHS:
- Spending more than you planned to, repeatedly.
- Hiding gambling from family or friends.
- Chasing losses (depositing more after a losing session to "win it back").
- Borrowing money to gamble.
- Lying about how much time or money you spend.
- Feeling restless or irritable when not gambling.
- Gambling interfering with work, sleep, or relationships.
One or two of these does not necessarily mean you have a gambling problem; persistent patterns across several do warrant a conversation with one of the resources above.
Self-exclusion tools
Most of the casinos we cover offer in-account self-exclusion — typically 24-hour, 7-day, 30-day, or permanent options. Use them. They are designed to be friction-light to activate and friction-heavy to revoke, which is the right design.
For broader exclusion across multiple operators:
- GAMSTOP — UK-wide self-exclusion across all UKGC-licensed operators.
- Gamban — software that blocks gambling sites and apps across your devices.
- Spelpaus.se — Swedish national exclusion register.
Set limits before you need them
Every casino we cover allows you to set deposit, loss, and session-time limits at signup. Set them. The single biggest distinction between casual and problematic play is whether limits exist before the first big losing session, not after.
A reasonable starting point: a monthly deposit cap that, if you lost it entirely, would not affect your ability to pay rent, eat, or meet other commitments. If you cannot identify such a number, you should not be gambling at the moment. That is not judgment; it is risk management.
Why this page exists
The honest reason: a small percentage of every casino's revenue comes from problem gamblers. We earn affiliate commission on signups. The integrity of this site depends on us being honest about that fact and pointing people toward help when help is what they need rather than another casino link. If you are reading this page because you are worried about your own play, that is the right reason to be here. None of the casinos we cover will be upset if you choose not to play.
